CBS and Paramount have announced the release of Bonanza: The Complete Series in an enormous box set of 112 discs, as well as individual sets of the 2nd season (remastered for the first time), and the 12th, 13, and 14th seasons for the first time on disc. Release date is May 23, 2023.
Ben's fans have good reason to be delighted, as his third and final episode for the show, "Top Hand," will be in the 12th season set. He gives a powerful performance as a Ponderosa trail boss seeking redemption for an alcoholic past who has to fend off challenges from a younger rival. Plus there's a lot of ridin' and ropin', which we always love to see Ben doing.
The sets will be released in DVD format. May we hope for a Blu-ray release some day?
